Judy Collins, a licensed MFT, has served as director since coming to Peace Counseling Center in 1995. She received her MA in Clinical Psychology from JFK University in Orinda California.
Her theoretical background is in Self Psychology and Cognitive Therapy with a Mindfulness component. Her work is also informed by her undergraduate emphasis and ongoing training in world religions. She has experience and training in art making and brings in the use of various art forms for healing. She has taught art and done counseling with children in the SRVUSD. She has worked with the HIV/AIDS community and other chronic illnesses since 1987. She leads various groups focused around issues of depression, grief, anxiety, acceptance and mindfulness/meditation. She currently has a psychotherapy practice at Peace Counseling Center in Danville and at Vital Life Services in Oakland.

Her professional interests and ongoing education include:
- cognitive-mindfulness treatment of depression and anxiety
- art as therapy
- parenting and educating of ADHD children
- living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic illness
- inter-racial and interfaith families
- couples dynamics – renewal and freedom through long term commitment
- the interplay between Buddhism, Christianity and Psychotherapy.
