Youth
Youth Ministry, under the leadership of The Rev. Elizabeth Felts, is anchored in a classroom experience at 9:00 a.m. Sunday mornings for youth, 9th through 12th Grade. Through Bible study, discussions about current events and spirituality, and exploration of Lutheran history and theology and other faith traditions, we load up on the building blocks of the faith. Then, we put that faith to action in our church and community.
Activities during the past year have included working on the Peace mosaic, participating in a local walk for hunger, baking bread and serving breakfast for the Winter Nights Shelter, providing Christmas gifts for a mother and two young children who had recently transitioned from homelessness to permanent housing, experiencing worship at Glide Memorial Church in SF and a Russian orthodox church in Menlo Park, and traveling to Tijuana, Mexico to build housing for an impoverished family.
Naturally, there’s fun stuff too: a Christmas party and overnight in December, a ski trip in January, a hike through the scenic grounds of San Damiano Retreat. For more information about youth ministry at Peace Lutheran Church, please contact Elizabeth at elizabeth@peacejourney.org.
