Sanctuary and Sacred Spaces

The Entrance to Peace

A granite cross orients the guest; it begins to rise up anticipating our destiny. Ancient stones surround us reminding: should we forget to praise the Holy One even the stones will cry out! Open crosses encourage us to see the world through the Cross. Glass doorways suggest openness, clarity and transparency. There’s no “secret spirituality” here. Guests are welcomed into a unique sanctuary of light, simplicity, sacred emptiness, the beauty of abstract art and an experience of peace.

The Gathering Hall Bell

The bell intones the beginning of worship. It is made entirely of recycled materials. The bell itself is the top of an oxygen tank; the mallet, a leather covered baseball.

In the Hands of God

Peace commissioned Salvadoran artist Isiais Mata to paint this mural expressing a vision for harmony among the peoples of the earth. Arrested and imprisoned with hundreds of others at the time of the Slaying of the Jesuit priests in 1989, Isiais fled to the US on his release. Upon completion of this mural he returned to El Salvador.
