Silly Sports Saturday Update
September 10, 2008
Dear Parents, Grandparents, Uncles, Aunts, and loving Big People,
After more than twenty years of working with children, I’ve come to realize that it’s far easier for a group of adults to coordinate their schedules for a get-together than it is for a group of kids together for a party! Never is this more true than in the height of soccer season!
Silly Sports Saturday, a party for kids and their grown-ups, originally scheduled in September was moved to October 4 to accommodate those families who were planning to attend the Peace Family Retreat Weekend. Now with the October party date we’re running smack into soccer season along with all the other activities that reduce the better part of a parents day to shuttling kids from place to place. Personally, I don’t know how you do it but I stand in awe than you do. Kudos to ya!
One thing I know is that for a party to be a party, party-goers are generally needed and so to confirm we have enough kids planning to join us at Super Sports Saturday to play the games, I’m asking that anyone planning to attend the party with their children RSVP no later than this coming Monday, September 15. Just email me directly at anita@peacejourney.org, and include the names and ages of the children attending and the number of adults that will be coming with them. If we have 12 children RSVP then the party’s a go. If less than 12 children RSVP then I’ll postpone Silly Sports Saturday until late Spring before the summer-fall sports programs kick into gear.
The reason I’m requesting this information so early is in the event we don’t have the needed numbers then I’ll still have ample time to turn my energy toward creating more children’s activities, games, and surprises at the Animal Blessing and Festival to take place on Sunday afternoon, October 5. Either way, the children will have at least one super-fun event on the first weekend of October, and if the Silly Sports Saturday ends up being postponed, please assure your kids that it will still happen later in the year.
I’m continuing to work out a date for our Extreme Gingerbread House Make-Over Party for Christmas and will let you know as soon as a time is set so you can pencil pen it in to your family calendar. Would a Saturday in the first two weeks of December work for you or would a Sunday late afternoon be better? It would be helpful to hear from you on the best time for you and your family.
Blessings,
Anita Cadonau-Huseby
